It is not uncommon to experience having other people tell you what you can and can’t do; what food you can have and what to avoid especially when you’re in the process of
giving birth. You have to think that prior to giving birth, there’s a long list of things you have to be cautious of. But while giving birth may drive you crazy, especially if you're a
first time mum, you need to keep in mind that it is all for the sake of your baby – and yourself – in the end. Knowing what to face and what to stay away from before giving birth will help ensure that you will have a considerably easier time when you go into labor, and your baby will have much higher chances of being healthy. Here are a few handful things to remember before giving birth.
What to avoid before giving birth
Firstly, prior to giving birth should never get in contact with alcoholic beverages, cigarettes and, of course, illegal drugs. While a few sticks of cigarettes and the occasional bottles of beer may seem pretty harmless before, now that you are in the process of giving birth they will contribute greatly in affecting the health of your unborn baby. Before giving birth, you should also refrain from taking in deli meats and egg salad because these items can be contaminated with Listeria bacteria. If you really want to have a bite of deli meats and hotdog, make sure they are properly reheated and, ideally, steaming hot. Another thing to avoid prior to child birth is over-the-counter medicine. If you’re not feeling well and you need to take medication, inform your doctor about it before hand, just to be certain that it’s safe.
What to embrace before giving birth
Exercise is universally acknowledged to be good for the body, and it holds just as true before giving birth. Prior to
child birth, do your best to get regular exercise, at least 30 minutes a day. Massage is a welcome relief for you to know that having a massage is perfectly acceptable prior to giving birth, as it can reduce stress and lower pain during labor. Before child birth except during the last month of pregnancy, you can also still do air travel. Just make sure that you drink plenty of fluids and you stretch your legs occasionally.
These pointers on giving birth are just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. There are so much more things you need to take into consideration prior to
giving birth, but if you keep an open mind and do you best to take it in stride, you are bound to have a better time during pregnancy.
